I've just purchased a used colorline 5000 analyser to replace or assist my early colorstar. This analyser has a variable contrast setting which should I think give me filtration and exposure times based on different settable parameters. ie based on Highlight or shadow metering. My question is does anybody have experience of this analyser and can they point me in any useful direction regarding setting up the different channels. The Jobo manual, paper and on line, rather skates over black and white; the default values seem pretty useless.
I'm using Ilford MG1V and fotospeed variable contrast papers. Incidently the Jobo 5100 and 7000 seem pretty similar so any experience on those would be interesting to me. I know I am going to have to find my own way but I can't seem to get started. Ilford's data sheets seem pretty poor regarding paper speed and heel and toe characteristics. Why can't everybody be like the Kodak of old with loads of info available.
Tanks in advance and no need to be brief with replies, I've got loads of time (to save)
Richard.
