I would like to move up to 11x14 photography. My interest is doing color photography. However color film for larger than 8x10 seems to be a near impossibility. I called Kodak and was told that they can make their Portra film in 11x14 but that it would probably cost around $10,000.00! The spokesperson was not sure how much film could be had for this amount of money. Anyway, does anyone use color in the larger than 8x10 format or do we just forget about it because it's too expensive? If someone is using it how do you surmount the cost obsticle, wealthy or band together and do a volume purchase?

There have been some group purchases. Keep an eye out here or on the lfphoto.info forum for word of them, or to organize one yourself.

Timothy Greenfield-Sanders shoots 11x14" color, but I suspect he shoots enough volume to justify the minimum order himself.

Fuji Provia datasheets list 11x14 as a standard size, but I have never actually seen it in stock anywhere. Try asking the Fuji distributor or Megaperls?

Thanks for the info. I just whipped off a quick ask to Megaperls and will contact Fuji.

Actually I though that nasty porn stuff (sorry but I thought it a waste of his talents and film) was shot on 8x10 and his B&W work is in 11x14 but do correct me if I'm wrong as I am unfamiliar with his other color work. I have several (7) boxes of VeriColor in 11x14 but am unfamiliar with it and it is out od date of course but kept in refrigiration.

You can use 11x14 sheets of Ilfochrome in-camera at a very low speed and get positive prints. You can do the same with Endura paper and cross process it to get positive prints.

There are articles on this latter and prints by Bujor B on www.photo.net
