I made prints with Ilford's MGFB Classic Matt, and prefer it to their MGFB Cooltone Glossy, which is a bit too glossy, at least for me. It still gets reflections on it, and the paper's emulsion is easily damaged if you're the least bit rough w/ it. Having never printed w/ matt papers before, I can see that it will take time to get it dialed in, especially regarding the blacks and highlights. When two prints of the same neg were placed side by side, the glossy one was of course sharper and had better blacks, but the matt showed so much possibility!
Are there other papers that don't cost a fortune (the keeper rate will be low while I'm figuring it out), are available in 11x14, and don't require a special safelight? I looked on Freestyle, and when you eliminate the warm papers, there wasn't much to their selection. I've given up on working in dim lighting w/ Foma papers, so that's not a possibility.
