I'm trying, today, to retrofit my DeVere 504 (with it's perennial power supply problems, resulting in 2 mins to expose an 8x10) with a new cold light unit. What I'm WONDERING is... just how close should the unit be placed from the negative stage - is there a standard recommendation for this from Aristo? It's a standard Zone VI cold light. I'm ASSUMING it should be about half an inch or so from the neg... but don't want to make any stupid assumptions...

thanks.

It should be very close. On my Omega there is a diffuser that sits right on the negative carrier, and the tubes are about an inch or less above that, depending on the size and spacing of the tubes.

Okay - thanks David. I'll give that a whirl. I just thought there might be a 5-10 mm needed for convection or something... I know these do generate SOME heat...!

ACAP.
as close as possible
