Code in JAVA ,to make work for lens design

I am reading papers of john r. koza , stanford professor who writes genetic algorithm programs for design of new lenses which work on KOJAC 1.0 Ray Tracing Program, a JAVA program.
I downloaded the code written in java , there were little java files in a row.
How can I make work such a code in xp ?
This JAVA code is 60 kbyte size , very small in size.
I am totally strange to programmer guides , i m lost in them.

I think you need the JDK (development kit) so you can compile and run the code.

It looks like you would need to write programs in Java in order to use the program classes. This web page has some examples in Java Applets that show what the Java classes can do. Look for the examples. And the page also has a windows version download.
