Hi, to all.

I was wondering... These days, you can have low budget lighting for «portrait» photography, ie.: you got to be quite close to your model...

But then, CFL are now made of different power and.. shapes! You can have 500w lamps for indoor agriculture that «deliver» all the colors of the light spectrum. On the http://wzsunrain.en.made-in-china.com/ web site you can find quite powerfull CFL.
Here are a few examples:

or this 500w «induction light»: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/609536786/500w_induction_light.html

I even found this: http://www.made-in-china.com/showro...O-Compact-10-Bank-550W-Fluorescent-Light.html

My question: are the new «powerfull» CFL a good solution for DIY studio? Do they «throw» enough light to be able to shoot a some distance to be more «confortable» (say to shoot fashion)?. Does anyone of you have any experiences with these lights.

Thanks.

I <<think>> that the <<biggest>> problem with using one of <<these>> would be the <<color>> balance issues. You would have to insure <that>> you have the correct filtration. However, <<these>> new CFLs don't <<have>> a traditional fluorescent <<color>> balance, so you'd have to <<figure>> it out...
