Cleaning wet plate holder

Hi,
does anyone know what to use to clean a wet plate holder? I temporarily have a converted fidelity plastic holder which got bunged up with all the collodion etc. I tried cleaning it with ether and the plastic must have melted because i cant get the sliding plates in anymore. I tried ethanol and that didnt work either. What do you use? Thanks, Mark
