Hi all, has anyone cleaned up the helical threads on a valoy, please? I am wondering how to take the whole focusing section off the enlarger...it looks like I need a pin spanner? When you look from the underside of the focusing part, there is a ring with two holes on opposing sides of the ring which are about 1mm in diameter. I have looked for a pin spanner with 1mm pins without luck. Thanks

I re-lubed my Valoy helicals, forgot how I did it, but it was a mistake-focusing action became too loose. I didn't use a spanner, though.

I'd try extending the helical to it's maximum length, wipe the threads down with naptha/lighter fluid and work it for a while.
If you clean all the lube out, you would need to grease it again.
