Cleaning Rolleiflex Focusing Screen Safe DIY?

Quick question for those with experience cleaning Rolleiflex finders — is it safe to open the focusing screen assembly myself? Mine has some minor dust but I’m worried about alignment issues. Any tips appreciated!

It's self-aligning.

The mirror tarnish is not removable in most cases. A new mirror is the answer.

You can remove the screen and wash it (assuming it is ground glass).

There are variations on the hood system. If this is a Standard k2 with side screws, the screen might just sit in the opening, not be attached to the hood itself.

And there are later Rolleis with plastic screens. And some with plastic screen on top of glass.

But in general, the mirror and screens self-register.

... on the K2 like on all pre war Rolleiflexes on the mirror there is a thin and fragile coating of silver on the surface, you can damage it very easily by rubbing.
The ground glas is easy to clean with some glas cleaner (Ajax, Sidolin or such) and water, if there is the usual level mounted avoid heat.
