Sure, places like Flash Clinic in New York do that sort of thing. You can e-mail them.

Nick - do you mean:
get any loose contatcs replaced/tightened,
remove and replace burned contacts,
make sure all internal and exterlal hardware are in place and snuggly tight
check for swollen//leaking capacitors
check that the charge being delivered is up to snuff
check that the charging voltage isn' too high, and concequiently prematurely aging the capacitors dielectric
check that they recycle within the OEM's specfoed time?

I'm not aware of any shop set up to do all such repairs, although there must be someone in NYC or LA that puts dead brownline/blackline/elinchrome
etc. untis back into a usable state. Most rental shops of continous lighting (ala White here in Toronto) have shops that fix what is dead, i am not aware of anyone who rents enough to rebuild - perhaps Headshots would know.

I was hoping somebody could open up my 30 year old blackline and check it before it goes BOOM.

I guess I could call KHB out in Missasuaga but was wondering if it was a normal thing. Or if they'd think I'd grown a third head.
