I have a, new to me, Yashica 12 that I purchased off of the _bay. I know, I know, you take your chances with it but hey. Any way, the camera needs a CLA. The shutter sticks at anything less that 1/8. All of the estimates I get from the local shops are around $120. If they will even look at it. Any recomendations?

Thanks.
D.

Well, I guess I was looking something like "that's a rip off send it to ABC repair". but maybe I will be saving for the CLA.

The least I'd expect would be $60-80 from a specialist repairer and although $120 seems a little on the high side it is far from unreasonable.

This from someone who's be having cameras repaired for almost 40 years and probably underestimates prices -- so $120 probably ain't too bad after all.

Cheers,

Roger

I have about a decade less experience than Roger... but I think we have the same conclusion - $120 ain't bad for a TLR repair. About 20 years ago the price was $100. What you will want to understand is what you will get for your money. I've seen repair shops pricing shutter overhaul separate from the camera body overhaul. For $120 you might be getting one but not the other.

Brian (who's much less experienced, but much more grey than Rog.)

edit: For comparison price, consider contacting Pro Camera Repair in Thousand Oaks CA. They have a web presence that is easy to find. I've used them in the past for TLR repairs and found them to be competatively priced and I've always been satisfied wit the results.
