While cleaning my Ciroflex TLR camera the mirror came loose. What is the best way to re attach it to the camera?

How do I clean the old adhesive off the mirror without damaging it?

It's glued into place on those, yes? No clamping or slots or such? If so, no need to clean off the old adhesive- it will actually serve to index the mirror back into position.

Hello Dan:No slots but there appears to be ridges in the spot where the mirror was and it looks as if those ridges, which are on the bottom and sides are designed to keep the mirror in place. It also looks like there is or was glue of some sort but when the mirror came loose there was a piece of thin paper still attached to the camera and it had what looked like black paint on it. There was the same on the camera and on the back of the mirror. I'm hesitant to try and clean off the paint on the mirror because of it being so thin.

Is nail polish a potential solution here? I saw cameras using something similar to nail polish for rangefinder mirrors.

I'll try the nail polish remover on the camera but I am hesitant to use it on the mirror itself.

Nail polish and nail polisher remover are very different things!

use some Elmers glue, use the old parts to guide you. The paper was probably a sacrificial piece for just this type of situation- better to have it tear than to break the mirror.

Hello Dan: thanks for your feedback. The Elmer's glue you are referring to is the white type?
