After great success with the previous 3 goals to release 400D in 35mm, 120 and 4x5 formats, Cinestill has added a stretch goal to make 400D in 220 form.

At the time of writing this goal is at 81% with 7 days left to go.

In order to support this goal one needs to buy one of the following packages:

5x Roll "ProPack" of 400D 220 - $175.00

Or:

2x Roll "Twin Pack" of 400D 220 - $60.00

Note that the price for a 5x ProPack of 120 is $75 so you are paying a considerable premium for the 220 version.

So the price per roll if you buy the ProPack is $35/roll, and the price per roll if you buy the Twin Pack is $30.00/roll. I guess if you really want the velvet film case and embroidered patch, you have to go big or go home. Who is confecting the 220 for them? Shanghai?

Cinestill is probably feeling the water for a colour film in 220.

If they can collect the capital to pay for the order in front, nothing lost and maybe we'll get more 220. If they can't get the remaining 19% that will be a pity but the market will decide here.

ok, with the 5 pack you get a 'limited edition' film case which is why they charge more.

$30/roll = $15/roll of 120. Which is par for the course.

You're not comparing apples to apples here.

220 is $15 a roll x 2 (the twin pack here).

The similar deal on 120 is $15 a roll. Same price. And if the 220 doesn't work out, they promise 2 rolls of 120 for each roll of 220 you hoped for.

Seems as good a deal as the 400d in 120 to me. I hope they pull it off, it'll let us know if 220 is viable.

Not only is the film case limited edition, but it is "velvet". You also get an embroidered patch. I would be more excited about it if it came on a windbreaker or something, but I guess getting just the patch is more versatile. That way you can sew it on the pocket of a blazer if you want to.

Unfortunately the goal was not met, still cinestill said they will try to make 220 work.

Several months later and I got a note my order of 220 has shipped. But I have not had an update on the 220 process for some months, So I am expecting this to be 2x 5 roll packs of 120.

What has disappointed me are the halations seen on the film. CS claims it is a new film, but it is looking like it is just 250D without the remjet later coated on. Still cool I guess, but useless for me because I dont like halations.

But it's not Corinthian Leather.

I supported the 5x220 400D Cinestill program.
Today a box arrived via UPS with 10 rolls of 120.
So it goes.

I emailed Cinestill regarding an ETA for the 400D film in 4x5...
I was informed that they are in the final stages of packaging the film, and that it should ship in early March.

I inquired (again) with Cinestill regarding 400D in 4x5.
I got a response today, saying that the 'coated material' was shipped to their 'finishing partner' at the end of last year.
Apparently the 'finishing partner' is dealing with material shortages and 'production plan adjustments'...and latest estimate for fulfillment is the end of June.

It would be great if we could get alternatives for color film. I don't shoot enough color large format to amount to much, and what I do is Portra.

Agreed!
That is why I supported this effort.
I supported the 220 effort, also...and got 120.
