I searched and can't find some detailed info on this...

Couple of years ago I developed ECN2 cinefilm in HC-110 and results were usable but too dark (negative) for regular printing under enlarger. Instead of my regular exposure of 10-30 seconds, I have to keep it for two minutes under enlarger.

I asked here sometime ago and I'm not the only one who was using ECN2 color film for BW negatives. But how do I get normal bw negative from color ECN2 film? I was using HC-110 and developing time, mix for regular bw films. Because it came too dark after developing, do I need to make it shorter?

You cannot get 'normal bw negatives' from ECN2 film.

ECN film has a dark orange mask that cannot be removed. It can be printed but the orange mask makes printing times too long.

Thank you, PE, for making it clear. At least I know now, what I wasn't doing it wrong with time and mix.

Thinking on first c41 bw film: Ilford xp1 - as kit with developer -
it was normaly c41 developed and sure it
was a good bw film at this time.

But for the enlargements you need also
a paper gradation different to unmasked
normal bw films.
