Chunks in Rollo Pyro "B" solution

I've emailed Kevin at Bostic and Sullivan but he may be travelling and hasn't replied in a couple of days so I'll post this here...

I did some developing last week and noticed there were about a table spoon of heavy chunks (for lack of a better description) in the bottle of the "B" solution. The negs turned out good and there's still about a third or more of the solution left. I'd say the bottles are about a year and a half old.

I'm wondering if this is caused by oxidation or age or something? I'd hate for me to ruin a batch of film because critical chemicals had been bound in the chunks and not availible to develop the film. But I also don't want to buy new until I have to (read: I'm cheap).

Is this something normal or what? Actually, as I've typed this I realize I'm being pound foolish and should just update my chemicals. Any comments are still welcome.

Just heat it up Alan, it should go back into solution.

This happened with my current batch from Photographer's Formulary. Heating helped, but not all of the crystals "melted" back into solution. I have souped several drums of film, with no apparent issues. I shake it well and use, but it is very disconcerting!

I've found it disconcerting for about two years. It doesn't seem to have any other bad aspects, except you waste the chunks. Kevin shrugs and says, "yeah, that is the way it acts." I just consider it one of the mysteries of pyro and go shoot more film.
