Hi, all -

There's a tag inside my new Rolleiflex Automat - "Chromoptics by Jay Reed, Chicago". I'm assuming this was a store at some point, but google fails me. Anyone know for sure?

Such lens-assembly trade-mark makes me rather think of a manufacturer or an optical workshop rather than a shop.

CHICAGO'S Largest Camera Trading Center ! Open evenings ! Better deals ! New-Used ! Mailorder (sic) satisfaction ! Chromoptics, 943 North State, Chicago 10.
Apparently a camera store, they ran ads in Popular photography in the 50's (this one's from Oct. 1956); you can google that. Looks like that address is now a Walgreens.

Somestimes there is precious little information, even on this monster we call the internet. In the 1970's there was a camera store in Chicago called Wolk's, they had, at one time 3 locations in the loop. Now long out of business and no trace that I can find that they ever were. I believe the founder/owner was named Mike Wolk.

Depends on just how strange the dogs are. Cujo level would be good.
