ChromaGraphica Double Dry Plate holders now available for sale through the online shop under Accessories at www.pictoriographica.com

These are post-Kickstarter campaign holders, built here in Brookline, New Hampshire, United States and incorporate post-campaign updates. Available in 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10. Load with antique film sheaths and shoot film with them, too!

A new run of wooden (mahogany) plate drying racks also in stock, as well as black glass for wet platers who want to shoot glass ambrotypes.

If the slide is a bit tight, are people using the graphite trick with these? ( rub a pencil lightly along the edges of the slide.. ). I'm about to finally use mine!

( sorry if this is in the wrong place... mods feel free to move! )
 
I broke in a brand new one today. It takes a bit more care than the metal 4x5 holders that you can run over with your car. Like anything with glass plate, I need to be careful with it. Having 2x the glass in the holder is the way to go. I also modified 3 Graphic film pack holders. By the time I added up the cost of buying the holder, having an insert 3D printed and the time involved, a single holder cost me about 1/2 the price of one of these. It only holds 1 piece of glass and it’s bigger and heavier. Now I have both. I needed to try modifying these and now I know. Just my .03

I used Pledge furniture polish; recommended by Jason and others. But, don't expect miracles...slides get a little easier to move, but not by much.

wiping down with Pledge works well for the campaign holders which many of the 4x5’s were tighter then I wanted. The post-campaign holders we build here at Pictoriographica (available through the store and via the retailers stocking them) are much better.

I've used Armor-All on dark slides in some of my oldest, most worn 8x10 film holders and it does a good job of making them easy to insert/remove.
 
Hey Jason !

Are you folks planning on making an insert / dry plate negative carriers for various enlargers ? years ago when I was into enlarging instead of contact printing everything I made I used to cringe and wince every time I wanted to enlarge a 4x5 glass plate ( I even turned down a job making 8x10 enlargements of a family friend's wet/dry plate negative collection because I was afraid my enlarger head was going to damage the plates ). For myself, I eventually just made tiny plates and put them right in my durst's head with the giant glass negative carrier/cartridge removed ( I had a snazzy piece of denim duct taped to the enlarger head so light wouldn't spread across the whole room .. ) as they say necessity is the mother of invention and all, and you have done such a great job re-imagining and re-inventing dry plates.. their emulsions and their accessories ... any plans on a negative carrier?

There is a guy on Etsy (bitbybitphoto) who 3D prints various negative carriers. After a few e-mails between us, he 3D printed a 4x5 glass plate carrier to my exact specifications for my Beseler 45MX. Very nice quality and it works great! You might want to contact him and see if he can make whatever you need. Btw, I thought his price was very reasonable, too.
