I've been collecting analog cameras for a few years now and have a Chinon SLR that I love. However, I want to take the top cover off (no problems, just interested in mechanics) but cant figure out how to remove the advance lever. I tried to unscrew the top part of the lever, as well as some prying techniques. No avail. There seems to be a lack of Chinon maintenance and repair videos online, SO I'd like to learn all I can in order to record a disassembly demonstration and maintenance video.

Unless there's a secret trove of rare esoteric Chinon vids..... But I'm not hopeful!

Thanks in advance!

Do specify which model you've got (or is "SLR" the model?)

I've never worked on one, but based on photos of the SLR, CM-3 and GAF L17, I'd guess the cap is screwed into place, and would normally be removed using a rubber cup or flexiclamp-type wrench. If the cap can rotate independently of the lever, I'd guess it'll have left-handed threading. Otherwise, standard right-hand threading. But once you remove the cap, you'll probably discover that you need at least one other specialized tool to remove the wind lever: A spanner wrench.
