Been a few years, took my Chinon CP7M out for a stroll at the zoo. I keep forgetting what nice camera this is. Bright viewfinder, although button controls easy to use, ergonomic are good, light, but too small for my hands. The motor drive is quite, not fast, in C mode 2.5 FPS, top shutter speed of 1/2000, multiple exposure, but no mirror lock up. Use a couple of Pentax KA kit lens, easy to lug around for a couple of hours. Next time I need to remember to bring a single pin flash to see how it does with fill in flash.

I've been thinking of buying this very model. How's the shutter sound? I have a Sears KS Super that you can hear across a busy street.

I think the shutter is quite, not Leica quite but average for a SLR. I have the power winder for the Chinon CE and CM 2s, it's quite loud, the CP7 is much better.

Found one big flaw, when shooting in P mode there are 3 choices, PA for action preference, PC or small aperture preference, and P, the camera decides. There is no F stop readout in the viewfinder, so when shooting in any of the P modes you don't know what the aperture is, only the shutter speed. Of course you can chose manual or aperture preference mode so the lens is set at a given aperture.

I have one. It's a pleasant little camera to shoot with. Took it out recently and finally shot some multiple exposures. Unfortunately the film disappeared in the mail system, so it's on my list to take out again when spring is up and running.

I'm thinking about getting a second body, or maybe the Chinon AF body to use with Pentax KAF, I have a SF1n and although AF I like the layout of the Chinon much better. Or just dig out my PZ1, but oddly I'm still drawn to the CP7.
