China 120 film free(lance) photographer

In my view, the obvious steps would be to enroll in educational programs in Europe or the US. This can be formal education at institutions (academies), or you could try and find more temporary programs intended to support young artists, or even short workshops. This will help you to build a network and also to understand what is currently fashionable in the West. The latter is relevant; while artists and fine arts photographers are evidently autonomous to an extent, it's still a bit of a popularity contest and certain themes and approaches are more in vogue than others.

Also, the old saying "it's not what you know, but whom you know" is also true in the arts world. Building a network is essential.

If you're looking to do freelance commissioned work (portraiture, weddings etc.), it's a whole different ballgame and competition will be even fiercer.

Frankly, the goal you've set for yourself is pretty challenging. I understand that China may be a difficult place to make it as a photographer, but it's not exactly easy in the West, either.

Finally, I think it's important to understand that the majority of people active on forums like Photrio are amateur photographers with more of a technical interest than an artistic one. While we all appreciate beautiful and compelling images, the odds of being 'discovered' on this particular forum are small.
