I would be interested.

Incidentally, I was extremely disappointed by my visit to the Art Institute last week. Very little space for photography, and what they did have up was 90% recent color stuff (including ink jet prints) by obscure photographers. Would they take down their French Impressionist paintings in order to make room for new artists? I don't think so.

All you Chicago area people should check out the current exhibit in Elkhart of a local orthodontist's private collection. Lots of Ansel Adams and Brett Weston landscapes (not my own taste), but also a couple of Edward Weston nudes, some Elliot Porter dye transfer prints, an old William Henry Jackson albumen western landscape print, and other items of interest. Elkhart is not really that far from Chicago.

I'm in, I was monitering the Michigan malitia and there sub forum but this seems very appealing geographicaly. I'll post something on the Midwest Large Format Asylum.

Oh there is an east side, East chicago as a matter of fact. The south east side It's loaded with abandoned "rust belt" type stuff as well a large operating steel mills and refineries, one of my favorites.

For those that are in the Midwest (which includes the Chicago area) there is a group with varying levels of activity. You can find out more about the group, join or mailing list, web forum, etc. At our website (www.midwestlargeformat.com) We have no dues and there are no known rules. Even if we had any I doubt they would be followed.
