I have a quick question, how long to the chemicals last? Specifically asking for the salts used in the process, ammonium bromide, ammonium iodide etc.

They have been stored for the past 7 eyars in a cool dry place.

Are there any tests other than mixing a final solution of whatever to test?

Thanks!

As @koraks says, these salts will be fine as long as the crystals are more-or-less free flowing.

Too much caking/clumping indicates that they are damp and should probably be replaced.
