Chemical reversal of colour film?

Hey,

Does anyone (photoengineer?) know what chemicals are used as reversal agents? Thinking of those used in e6 development for example. Is it possible to make or get these chemicals somewhere/how?

Found some recipes in old threads. Looks way out of my league, maybe I'll have to commit to buying a kit. But are there other more simple options that would work? Not necessarily perfectly, but atleast reverse effectively.

...from my point of view, exact theese chems from reversal step make E6 kits more and more expensive. I have to state the step : bleach is a little more responcible due to costs of environmentally regulations.
Here you have a good ability to save money and to do a very little to enviromentally protection.
You may use reversal exposing instead - I am ( quite ) there is no difference from chemical issues.With following steps - yes instead....instead.. may be some couplers agends are in a pre bath - ok but this is pre bleach.
To avoid reversal step should not have an inpact to following steps. But perhaps PE will correct me - I am not 100% sure now. But ist is a method often in use. And it sure works. But eventuelly you may have long term issues due to interactions of missing compounds.

The reversible color process E6 is somewhat the most complex process of film processing.
There are two developments phases and other intermediate phases.
Any mistake in one of the phases leads to a failure.
When it comes to the E6 process, it is desirable to have a good experience with the black and white process.
When you buy a processing kit, you pay the cost of those chemicals, intellectual property rights and test work.
I do not know if you saw this article that might help you with recipes.

Well Gerorge - great ! I got this formula as one of some others first. But I can`t find it again so far - because I allways forgeting the spelling of Mr. Wathson - this may be also wrong now. So here we have, or do we not have, the listed rerversal chems ? I have a look later.
From mind it is also with reversal exposure. But may be he gave a list of reversal step chems - can´t remember right now.

In general : It is not the right way from Kodaks Specifications. It is not the right way Kodak films are designed for. But if you know this it is ok ... because of what ?????

Because of the only right way is with Kodaks original 7 bath E6 developer Kit - of cause also with Fujis Fujihunt E6 chemicals wich are nearly idwentical but as a minimum within official E 6 specifications.

So if your alternate is a 3 bad Kit - these 3 bad kits are also not within Kodaks specifications - some say they are total fine. PE - I remember prefers Kodak 6 bath Kit as the best way.
To me 3 bath kits are not the best just because I don´t like " BLIX "

Reversal has been done with Stannous Chloride ( Tin Chloride ) or with t-butyl amine borane ( TBAB ). I don't recommend either method. Light reversal works best.

Stannous Chloride has worked perfectly fine for me so far, and all the ingredients listed in the recipe can be bought from Suvatlar, except for he sequestering agent, which can be replaced with Disodium EDTA.

There are also folks who claim a spoonful of Sodium Dithionite in a liter of water works as reversal bath, but I have no personal experience with this.

I've gone thru a couple of Tetenal kits. These are so cheap (less than $2/roll) and easy to use it makes no sense to try and DIY it. The three bath kits are no more complicated than black and white developing.

Great thanks! Are these available as ready to use "products" somewhere?

Both can be purchased by many chemical companies. I do NOT recommend either.

I don't know the regulations on these in your area so I cannot help you with that or with shipping information. You might try Suvatlar.
