I don't know where I saw something about the flash umbrella helmet. Maybe it was Mike Johnston's blog.

Technically sound, but definitely for extroverts only!

You took the words right out of my moth David.

It would work perfectly with a pentax 6x7 SLR...a flash over one's head and the sound of a cannon going off!

A Fuji 6x7 would work well, too...in a vertical format, the camera covers the face completely -- camera/helmet/umbrella all on a torso.

I have got to get me one of these!

And as an added value... for sure you no longer have to ask to say `cheese´...

I would worry if I was wearing it during thunderstorms....

Looks like another a variety of "Chindogu" or unuseless inventions. The Japanese seem to really love these wacky things.

One feature of it that was not discussed in the article was that you can rotate the umbrella and pick up satellite signals.

I actually made a similar device for shooting night football games for my newspaper. The strobe was duct-taped to a long stick and the stick was shoved down the back of my shirt and into the back of my pants. Definitely not comfortable or as polished as this, but effective. Sadly I have to pictures.

I like her pictures.. Think I'll make one out of a construction hat..

Saw this in another forum....

Talk about creativity.

Good way to get some smiles out of your subjects

I know it's fun to have the effect of surprise with these kinds of topics, but if everyone would use descriptive titles instead of "Check this out" or "The wackiest thing I've seen in a long time," then maybe we could avoid some redundant threads.

Did anyone notice how it took care of the reflections-from-eyeglasses problem?
