Recently found this place online - Walkens House of film www.walkens.com.au
I reckon theyre the cheapest film retailer in Australia. Basically the same as B&H when you factor in postage. Plus B&H can take a while to arrive, these guys are in Melbourne!

I've been meaning to ask around here, does anyone know what happened to cheapshotsau?
He used to have the cheapest film on fleabay (or just email him and he'd sell it even cheaper).
But his ebay shop's been empty for the last few months when I've gone looking, does anyone know if he's coming back?

I'll check out that Walkens place too, but too bad they don't have sheets (about all I buy these days).

I would be interested too, but one theory is that he lost a lot of money trying to undercut retail prices. I don't know if he actually purchased from the distributor and then tweaked pricing or brought in from overseas (and would have then been subject to gate taxes), but some emulsions he had were incredibly cheap — too cheap. There would not have been any serious money to be made, yet eBay would still be charging seller fees each month and many sellers do complain about these fees. Pbarcelon has a good range but Velvia 50 has not been available for some time. For that, I purchase from Japan.

OK, maybe I am wrong....maybe, but my spam radar senses a disturbance. This is the second place I have seen newly registered members posting about walkens.

Anyhow, have checked it out. Haven't done my sums yet, but it does look promising. Curious to see how much they charge for shipping. Shame they haven't listed any sheet film

EDIT. Looks like they don't have much stock. Tried to create an order with 20 roles of FP4+. Got an error message to say that they only had 2 in stock. Then I checked others. Only 6 rolls of HP5+. Only 5 rolls of PanF. Only 3 rolls of Ektar.... and so on.

For the order I did make of 10 rolls, shipping remained at $7.50. For an order of 20 rolls that I finally managed to make up, shipping was $12.

There's also filmfestivalau on ebay that I've used once or twice in the past. Doesn't always have everything but was pretty reasonable. Vanbar had 3 rolls (35mm) of hp5+ for ~$24 for a while. Now it's only fp4+. They're local to me so I'm not paying postage though.

Seems only to be selling single rolls, rather than pro packs, in 120 Fuji. BOO!!!

Thanks.
$26.50 for 3 rolls of FP4 in 120 with free postage seems pretty good.

Takes a little while , nothing extreme though. I think he's based in Thailand from memory.

Howdy,

Thought I'd dig this up again, as I have been looking at Pbarcelon's ebay store. It appears that he is currently selling Velvia 50 in 120 at least!

Cheers

Blanco Negro in Sydney usually has Foma at good prices, not that I've used any yet but when I run out/down of current stocks, I'll be trying some.

$6 per roll for 35mm and 120 is a very good deal I think. (re Blanco Negro)

Thanks for the heads up Hoffy. I've got enough RVP now to last a while, all bought from Japan.

But then I would have to shoot Foma...... (Foma and myself have fallen out of love in the smaller formats.)

No problems. I just order 5 rolls of Velvia in 100 from him. It was a toss up between that and the 50, but I decided to go for speed.

Good, but be aware the 100 palette is based on, but not the same as that for 50. It is even more saturated, especially in the red channel, and has elevated highlight sensitivity (so it favours shorter exposures rather than long ones). Some togs will exploit these qualities, but the unwary can get so mad they threaten to shoot Bambi.
