Cheap Single Weight Non-RC Paper?

It's been a number of years since I bought any print paper. Back in the day, there were papers like Super-Brome. Or was it Sup R Brome, or whatever. And there were others, although I can't recall names. Less than premium grade stuff like Kodak or Ilford and such. Just ordinary single weight plain non-RC 8x10 F surface that came in 100 sheet boxes for those who cut grass, delivered papers, and bagged groceries. Is there anything like that available any more? I'm in US. Thank you.

Not in the U.S, the last single wt FB paper was from a company in Russia, Salvich, it was sold by a number of retailers, but has been off the U.S market for years. All the FB paper I see are double what RC paper would be. Foma is likely the cheapest, also sold by Freestyle as a house brand. I still use FB for final prints but use RC for most everything.

F4U....your examples take us far back in time. There are no inexpensive fiber-based developing papers any more. You're looking at $150 USD & up for a box of any brand 100 sheet/8x10"

What is this stuff? Is this inkjet or laserjet paper?

It is VC RC paper. Promaster sold Mitsubishi paper that was coated here in the U.S at Mitsubishi's plant in one of the Carolinas. As far as I know the plant is still in operation and might coat inkjet paper as well as other products. I just found an add on Amazon for a box of 100 5X7 for $94, which is on the pricy side. I thought it has been been off the market for well over a decade. When (and if still in) production I bought it for contact sheets and work prints. Mitsubishi also coated color paper, but it had poor reputation. Have no idea how well it would hold up over time. So dont known if this is current or old stock. For the same price you can Ultrafine VC RC which will be fresh. B&H sell a house brand called Multitone, it is the best price I've seen at $21 for 25 sheets and $73 for 100 sheets. Need to dig for the price for the 100 sheets. I have a box of Multitone, it is my current paper of choice along with Ultraine for work prints, for presentation prints I use Foma FB graded or VC.

You could take a chance and get some Kodabromide F-2 or F-3 single weight paper off eBay. I bought a couple boxes. One is foggy the other is pretty good. Avoid the obvious open packages where they show the paper. I would avoid grade 4 or 5 because those are almost always fogged.

I already have some packages of paper that is quite old. Once I experimented with adding potassium bromide to my Dektol and it took quite a bit of it to tame the fog. I have one 25 sheet Kodak package with that picture of the wierd looking lady in the ski outfit, or winter outfit, or whatever it is. That goes back to the 70's because I remember it from then. I really don't want to fool with any of that. Buying that old ebay stuff is the best way I know of for just frittering away money. I used to like that single weight plain paper. I still have a very nice collection of ferrotype sheets.

I lucked out on a box of 250 11x14 sheets.

Only the edges are fogged slightly. For this project it didn’t matter because after printing I shot with phone and adjusted contrast and brightness.
