Neat trick I did today with ChartThrob.
I do a second iteration of ChartThrob to "fine tune" the results of my first curve. This produces a second curve to clean up the first which I then apply after the first curve (it really does a sweeeet job). I'd been racking my brain on how to eliminate this second curve though.
Then it hit me. Use ChartThrob to analyse the results of the first two, to produce THE PERFECT CURVE. Dant, Dant, Dant Dahhhh! It works ...almost...running ChartThrob on the negative which has had the "original" and "fine-tune" curves applied throws an error (Kevin please please change this the next time you update). BUT running the script on the positive produces a "mirror" copy of the perfect curve. So, if you save this as an ACV open with the printer transfer function...and um flip the numbers...somehow...almost there...

i believe there's a way to merge 2 curves together in photoshop--the other way is to just make an action that automatically applies all of the flipping and curves and voodoo (this is what i do) so that you never again miss a step.

hi,

mkochsch, that's an interesting approach! I have been searching for a photoshop curve merging technique for this same reason but could not find it yet. Maybe there is a curve flipping technique though?
