While I really love my X and all it can do, the fixed lens has proven to be somewhat of a compromise for what I want to do with my cameras. I am eyeing the Vario, hav read some reviews etc. Both models seem to be similar, but the somewhat slow Vario lens has been called out a few times - and then, other reviewers think that it is much better than its specs.

Who has made the change, or who owns both?

In case someone is interested an update - sometime ago, just before I sold the X (113), I had the opportunity to handle a nice Vario (107). For me, the camera felt clumsy and the size of the lens did not lend itself be my travel camera. I took a couple of dozen photos, and while various bloggers commented on the "underrated" quality of said lens, for me, IMO, just my 2ct, the magic did not happen, especially in comparison to the (much more expensive) Q2.
