Yes, I'm using an R1800 with my own combo of K3 inks - currently 2 carts LLK, 3 carts LK, 2 carts 50/50 LK/Y, and one straight Y. All driven through QTR, with the ink profiles controlled by an Excel spreadsheet. I'm not sure if this is the best combo, but it works pretty well. Refills are a nusiance as the LK/Y mixture is not exactly the same each time, requiring some re-profiling. When I have the system down I'll use a continuous feed. Anyway the Y seems smooth and has good UV density, topping out at 2.6 for the single channel. I don't use much of it, just enough to kick the rest of the profile up to paper white for Pt/Pd.
Note that the UC yellow in the 2200 is much denser, and that machine also lays down more ink, so the max is higher for both reasons. The yellow that comes with the 1800 is more transparent and actually seems to dilute the other inks, making the different combinations unpredictable.
I'm sure there's a reason I decided to do it this way, but I'm not sure what it was...
