Hi Alan. What you see in the first 2 bouquet pictures is the best example. At f4.7 the image that would be reflected in the flat glass is soft and out of focus totally so you get that wonderful glazed return from the flat glass surfaces. In the f8 you see sharp reflections and it looks totally different. So yes, apparent contrast does increase dramatically with just a bit of aperture stopping down. If I had done a second picture of Pam's clock at say f11 or f16 you would see everything in the room reflected in the glass on the front of the clock like a mirror. That glaze is what I'm after though. I set the shot up on purpose to see that. Jim
