Carbon printing books

I am looking to get back into carbon printing and was wondering what books are available for reference these days.

I have found two books out there and wondered if anybody has any feed back on them

Modern Carbon Printing. A Practical Guide to the Ultimate in Permanent Photographic Printing.
Written by Luis Nadeau.

The book of Carbon and Carbro by Sandy King


I had learned to carbon print in a class over 5 years ago and do not remember much, not that I was very good at it then. It took me 6 months to get one print that wasn't that bad, but now I am spoiled. The tonal range of carbon has prevented me from being satisfied

Sandy's book is great. I haven't seen Nadeau's carbon book, but his platinum book is good.

I think these are about the only two modern books. I have the Nadeau book and have never seen King's. The Nadeau book is good but IMO not very well organized.

I haven't seen the Nadeau book but I have Sandy Kings book and took the workshop in montana with magic. Sandys book is very good. I bought mine at B&S, well worth it.

Hi, John.

My darkroom is about set. All I have left is to paint the sink stand. Did a few carbons and Kallitypes last week in Montana. I lessened the amount of gelatin in the mix (as per Sandy's suggestion to me) and they took a lot longer to dry. I was only there a few days so I didn't get the chance to use my own tissue so I'll try them out probably next weekend. I'll let you know if the next mixure works well.

Thanks for the feedback. It is great to actually get a response. I have posted to the alternative photo forum and got nothing. I was starting to think I might be the only one trying carbon.

I am leaning toward the king book now. After searching this forum I have found many good references to it.
