Carbide headlamp color balance?

Anyone know where carbide headlamps fall in terms of color balance, and how many CC's of what filter to start with?

The only thing I can help you with is the fact that when I was young, carbide lamps came in two types. One had a mantle like a Coleman lamp and burned brighter and more bluish than the other type which was a plain flame lamp in a reflector.

I cannot say what balance either had.

hi there

not sure what cc you would use
but when water drips on the carbide
it gives off acetelyn gas and mixed with
air it is oxi acetylene gas ...

I've shot a lot of caving using these lamps, and have never filtered for them. I simply let the light glow yellow. I light the cave with strobes, and a long shutter to pick up the carbide glow. Filtering for this type of light will pretty much make it so dim, you won't see it.
