In my last two T90 projects, the EEE error appeared after disassembling/assembling the camera. I was now able to determine the cause and fix it.
I found the solution, once again, in Larry Lyells' SPT Journal on the Canon T90
The arrow points to the pressure plate of the front connector, which connects three circuit boards.
The first board …
… lying on the second board underneath.
An elastic connector stripe lies over the golden contact rows.
According to Larry, it's the second pair of contacts from the top that can cause problems if the pressure isn't right.
When you turn on the T90, the charge motor starts running briefly, and EEE appears on the LCD. The camera no longer functions.
The two screws in the pressure plate regulate the pressure on the contacts and are factory sealed.
I've marked the positions in black and noted the number of turns required to loosen them. They need to be tightened exactly the same way during reassembly. Then, if necessary, some fine-tuning may be necessary until everything works again.
Unusual behavior may occur during this process, which is related to temporary contact problems during adjustment.
Sticky second shutter curtain
Until now, I assumed that only the rear (first) shutter curtain could get dirty from the sticky damper.
Here, it's the other way around: the front (second) curtain is sticky.
Clean with acetone.
Once the mirror box is removed, the release magnet can also be cleaned (arrow).
This also applies to the two shutter magnets.
The aperture magnet is located behind the shutter release magnet and is difficult to reach. I haven't had any problems with it so far.
Setting the 1/4000 second
The 1/4000 second is set using this adjustment potentiometer.
Perfect exposure in Program mode on the camera tester.
The shutter speed of 1/4000 of a second isn't reached; But the exposure of the image is even.
1/60 s
Conclusion

Conclusion
- The EEE error caused by contact failure in the front connector can occur whenever the T90 is disassembled/assembled.
- There are also other causes for this error, such as problems with the magnets' separation (due to dirt) or a sticky shutter. See my posts on the T90 for more information.
- For a thorough cleaning, the shutter must be removed. The known shortcut only works if the rear shutter curtain is sticky.
