I lent out my Rebel about three years ago, but as I recall, all the EOS lenses had a "auto/manual" focus switch on them. Not sure if that has changed since the digi revolution/civil war/insurgency, but the photos of Canon lenses on B&H's website all seem to show the "AF/MF" switch.
The photos of non-Canon EOS compatible lenses on the B&H website are not as consistent, so some of those may or may not have the switch.
To summarize, the auto/manual focus control is on the lenses, so the body should not matter.
I loved my Rebel G until I got a little more serious about photography and moved backwards time-wise in equipment to cameras where the exposure, etc are easier to set manually. They're great starter cameras, but once you get more comfortable and know what you want to do, you might want to check out older used equipment. It's going soooooo cheap right now, but you do need to know at least a little of what you're looking for.
