Can the shutter on a Canon eos Rebel G be fired with no film loaded and no lens attached?

Never owned G in particular. But another Rebels, Elan and EOS 3.
In my experience any EOS would do it.
Why it wouldn't?

I have a Rebel X/S, which is the generation previous to the Rebel G. You can fire this camera with no film and no lens attached. When you have a lens cap on and AF enabled, the AF can't find the focus point, and won't let you shoot a photo until you remove the lens cap. FWIW, if the lens is set to manual focus, the camera will let you shoot as many black images of your lens cap as you want.
