Canon part identification

Going through some boxes of photography equipment I've collected over the years, I came across this Canon shoe part, but I don't know what it is used for. Appears to be a hot shoe at the top, but on the underside it appears to be a metal housing with a little pin with a spring on it.

Anyone know what this is?

I believe that’s a hot shoe adapter for a Canon F1 / F1n. It slips over the rewind crank and engages with two contacts near the crank to provide the hot shoe functionality.

Yes, you're correct. Thanks. Except mine appears to only connect with one of the contacts? Via the single pin.
