I want to get a half case for my Canon P and Canon 7 -- ideally one I could use for either. The body dimensions of the cameras seem identical except that the Canon 7 is taller and has a selenium meter. Looking at the photos of the Mr Zhou case for the P it looks like it might block part of the meter. Has anyone tried a "one case for two cameras" scenario for these models? For example the bottom of the factory case for a P on a 7 - or the reverse? Or a Mr. Zhou?

The Canon 7 bottom case allows the strap lugs of the camera to be used. The Canon P case has a cutout for the ASA reminder dial. Cases can be interchanged, and also work with the older Canon cameras. SO- get a Canon 7 case if you want the strap on the camera, get a Canon P case if you are Okay with using the strap on the case itself and want to use the ASA reminder. I just checked mine- have both cases and cameras.

Check the position of the tripod mount. I recall the 7 and 7s positions are different, I am not at home now so I can't check to see which is which-- this applies to the bottom half of the factory case. But the Mr Zhou half case I have for my M2 doesn't screw into the camera, so if the bottom dimensions are the same for the P and 7 you should be in good shape. Worst case scenario you'll end up with 2 cases, not so terrible.

Thanks for the responses -- now I know I want a Canon 7 case ! The Canon 7 and P both have the tripod mount on the right (if the camera facing away from you). Now if only I could find one that doesn't ship from the far east!
