Canon Motor Drive MA Problem

I just finished my first roll in a Canon AE-1 Program with the Motor Drive MA attached. The red light came on and I turned everything off. I pushed in the button on the rewind lever but the lever will not swing up. Did I miss anything?

It doesn't swing up very far. The end of mine only just reaches the top of the drive.
