There are two adjustments, so once you get vertical aligned, you can then work on horizontal separately.
If it's like my VT, there's a little cap screw next to the exit window for the viewfinder. The quick and dirty method is to focus on a target at infinity (the moon works great) and adjust the horizontal with a tiny flat blade screwdriver until it aligns. It takes miniscule adjustments.
I have been doing that. What's confusing me is the adjustment at the viewfinder seems to be adjusting the vertical also. I think I may have got it close enough on the vertical. The prisms in the viewfinder looks like there is fungus . I can't figure out how to get at the inside of the prisms. Would you know?
Weird. I didn't have that issue when I adjusted mine, but the vertical was already correct. I did notice the horizontal was VERY sensitive and the slighest pressure would move things around. It takes a light touch and barely perceptible movements to make adjustments.
I've never torn into mine, so I have no idea how to get into the prism.
I did have a problem with the vertical adjustment on my L1/L2 after taking out the small prism window to clean some dust in it and putting it back in, turns out I had the small prism window too loose and it kept knocking the vertical off
