My EOS 1V seems to be having issues with a sticky shutter blade, as there is a recurring overexposed strip on the ‘top’ long edge of my negatives.
Given Canon USA is no longer supporting or servicing these cameras, the only place to go seems to be Canon Japan, and I’m having trouble locating any contact information for their service / repair team.
I’ve tried phoning Canon USA to get a referral but their automated phone system gives me the cold shoulder whenever I ask to speak to an agent or mention that it’s a 1V that I’m inquiring about.
Does anyone have an email (preferable) or a phone number for the Canon Japan service team?
Right, the issue is that Canon USA has been brickwalling me whenever I mention the camera model. Yet Canon themselves have stated they’ll service the 1V until October 2025, hence the need to contact Canon Japan.
Many people in Japan speak some degree of English....but having a technical discussion about the possibility of a repair seems like a question best addressed in writing....
I agree… If only I had an email to reach them at. The only email I could find was for Canon USA and it sent an automated reply that it was an unmaintained inbox.

I've bought goods and services from him and found him to be very helpful and accomodating.
Great idea, thank you both! I've reached out to Bellamy to see if this is either something he has the capability of repairing or if he could help me get in contact with Canon Japan's service team.
