Hi guys, I‘ve got a problem, my canon ixus IX 240 elph won‘t go from frame 19 on my film roll to frame 20. You can hear the gears shifting but they just stop for some reason. What can I do? I tried to open up the camera and see whats wrong but I didn‘t get far. Maybe one of you guys has the building plans of the camera or knows how to fix my problem? I‘m emotionally attached to the camera so buying a new one (they‘re cheap) isn‘t an option.

thanks for any help

Be careful trying to open the cameras if it is still loaded with film. You don't want to fog the film and your photos. BTW are you shooting 25 exp or 40 exp film.

Maybe try rewinding the film and ejecting the APS film cartridge. Then if you have a film that you don't mind losing, load it and shoot and see does it go till the end.

I got the cartridge out, it seems like the real problem is that the lens won‘t pop out anymore so that mechanism is broken, not the other one.

It could possibly be repaired by replacing a cracked plastic gear or ribbon cable, but without a supply of fresh film, I'd think it would be mostly a display piece or memento.
