Hi Everyone,

I am having an annoying problem with a Canon F1n, I searched around but I didn't find anything similar. The Camera is well maintained and clean, however in some situation when pressing the shutter release the mirror promptly spring up but the curtain takes sometimes to run. There is like an annoying time gap between the mirror and the curtain action that I would like to fix. More info that may help to identify the problem:

- it happens on all speed
- Exposure is fine (ie times are correct)
- It seems to be very erratic, no evident correlation with cold temperature or use.

I disassembled the bottom plate to check if the mechanism was touching it, however I didn't noticed any sign of wear on the inside.

Can you guess what's wrong with this camera?
Cheers,
Ferru

Set the camera to B, and with a small hard haired brush clean the path of the curtains. Most likely that you will be able to shot a couple of rolls before the problem re-occurs. Definitely it needs CLA.

Thank you for the advice.
Last CLA was about a year and 100 rolls ago. Time to make a check? I will try to gently brush and blow the curtain trails as suggested, if it will not get better I will bring it to service...

The mirror move well and all the way up. I cleaned well-well all the camera and brushed the curtain rail as suggested. So far it works properly!
