Jay Maisel was actually featured as a user on The Canon Corporations advertising literature for the original F1 (although I know he mainly used Nilon F2s at the time), they had spent a fortune on about ten years R&D on the camera and were desperate to get into the pro. market, unfortunately, Chip, I'm old enough to remember.

San Francisco Examiner photojournalist Greg Robinson was killed in the line of duty at the Jonestown, Guyana mass suicide/murder.

One of his Canon F1s was found in the mud where he fell, brought to me by one of our mutual photo pro friends. I had plenty of Canon F1s at the time and didn't want one with that history.

I was not aware of those murders at the airstrip.
I remember "The Suicides" clearly. I was in my last year of high school at the time.
What a F'ing mess...a nightmare.

I heard Rev. Jim Jones preaching on radio. Very compelling guy, very compelling sermon. We'd want that from a mass murderer, right? Two of his followers sent their kids to my son's primary school....I think they escaped before the killings.
