Canon Ex ee and Teaching Advice

I have a wonderful opportunity to teach two young ladies photography (at least to the best of my ability).


So I already have a AE-1 that one of the girls can borrow and stumbled upon a Canon Ex ee today.

Camera details and questions:

So this camera is mint as far as I can tell without taking pictures. It has all the lenses, the flash, and the case for either $40 or $60 (this is why I write stuff down). Seems like a fair price (going off of eBay) but does anyone fix them? Would it be a good camera for one of them to learn on?

Moving on, right now I have them looking at some photographers that influenced me and we will be heading out to take pictures. I also have The New Photography Manual but would you recommend any other books.

I think it's good because it's fully manual but the meter may be a problem as it takes Mercury battery.

Keep in mind the camera has a changeable front group and doesn't share the FD/FL mount
with the FT->AE series cameras.

The EX-EE is a shutter-speed preferred automatic camera. The meter does use a 1.3V Mercury battery, so you'll have to use the appropriate adaptor to address the voltage difference.

Is it a good learning camera? Personally, I'd rather use a 100% manual camera, rather than an automatic.

As for repairs, you can try Ken Oikawa in California.

Valid point. There was an AE-1 for sale but it had a 135mm. Trying to do this as cheap as possible but I guess I could get the AE and a 50mm lens.

Thanks for the answer! The more I am thinking about it the more I agree. Might do one on one time with my camera and keep looking for another camera. Plus that money ould be used for my darkroom equipment.
