I've read on my Canon EOS 30's manual that this camera can't handle infrared film. Some friends have also informed me that the camera counter causes fogging on all the infrared films. Others though, claim that only the letters and exposure numbers are fogged on the negatives.
So, what's the truth on this one? Any experiences? I'll be ordering film soon, so i thought i could maybe order some infrared too, if the camera can handle it.
The camera will fog Kodak infrared but you may get away with it if you do not tightly crop. All the EOS cameras with this frame counter will do the same. I use EOS cameras myself and have a good few of them, but only use an old EOS 600 for infrared - which does not have the later i/r problem frame counter. Basically the later EOS cameras (after the 600) will fog infrared film. The fogging is on the edge but sometimes can stray into the frame. If you are going to give it a try I would avoid the hot Kodak i/r film - the less hot Maco or Konica i/r films would show much less fogging.

So, if i'm getting this straight, the camera counter fogs the lower/upper parts of the film, and the fog may get slightly inside the frame too. That wouldn't be such a problem, since i could maybe crop the pictures. I use mostly 18x24cm paper so i have to crop anyway, and i have that in mind when shooting.
I'll go for 5-6 rolls of Maco, probably. Morten, if you could post the scans it'd be very helpful. Thank you.
You know... if it fogs things up, and you know it's going to do it... you could almost plan how to incorporate that into the shot... sort of like turning lemons into lemonade.
I have a Canon Elan 7/EOS & I read that as well. I still want to try some IR film.
