Canon eos 1 mirror stuck halfway

so my eos 1 was giving the dreaded bc error and no other fix was working (cleaning contacts) so i did what everyone recommended and opened it up the whack the magnet until it worked

i got some successes but it would still seize after a few seconds of firing, and after a bit the shutter got stuck halfway trough like the image below. I want to try to make this camera work but with a new battery this time as i realize its current one got drained a ton during this ordeal but first i have to get the mirror to work normally any tips?

So I guess my earlier hypothesis that the problem with this camera is associated with the mirror cycle wasn't too far-fetched.

If you try to gently move the mirror, does it cooperate? Don't use much force.

yes im able to move it without major resistance and it can still be moved by the motor when i forcefully engage those magnets

Okay, but it flips back into this position halfway if you release it?

If not, I'd start there, read all of it and particularly everything involving the mirror box and the solenoids. This will likely give you one or two ideas of what might be wrong, which you could then start to check. Keep in mind you may have to partially disassemble the camera and then put it back together again. If this is not something you're comfortable with, I'd pull out now and reflect on where you want to go with this.

yes it also does it when the camera itself fires
