A little while back, I kind inherited (relative "went digital") a Canon Eos Rebel Ti with the kit zoom lens. This is my first and only auto-focus, auto-exposure, auto-pick-your-nose slr and I was kind of shy with it at first.

I picked up a cheapie 50mm Canon AF lens for it the other day and have been using it as a big point & shoot. Hey, for $90 out the door for a brand new lens...you can't go wrong - right?

This lens seems to be excessively prone to flare. Anybody else notice this?

Not really...I haven't noticed anything special about this lens when it comes to flare...

No not at all, as every lens it should be used with a hood but it's not very prone to flair in my opinion (i have the old version) and I used it a lot (with and without a hood)..

Kind regards,

Onno
