Canon Demi EE17?

Hey guys,

Just ran upon the Canon Demi EE17 rangefinder camera on line. Anyone have any dealings with this small gem? Half frame?

I have the Demi S but haven't shot it yet. It's been in a drawer for a while waiting. I really should do something with it. If I remember right the lens has a wobble to it and I think I paid $5.00 for it at a local antique shop as part of a bulk purchase of old cameras.

None of that helps you I know.

The EE17 has no rangefinder - it's scale focus only.

The specifications are very appealing. Twice I've tried to buy one, but each time I got a problem camera - one with substantial haze/fungus, the other with a broken shutter. Each time the seller accepted a return and gave me a prompt refund, so no gripes other than wishing the sellers had been more conscientious about their descriptions. But the shopping and return process was a time sink and I haven't yet had the patience or felt the urgency to try again, as I'm happy with my various Olympus Pens for half frame.

I've got one that was given to me years ago. Only put one film through it. The exposures were surprisingly good but there was an issue with the lens that gave a strange double image.

The Canon Demi EE 1.7 is a large half-frame camera with a 6 element lens, good range of shutter speeds to 1/500, scale focusing with zones visible in the VF, and lots of extra features. It can be used in automatic or manual mode. Results are excellent. I recently posted a fuller description and some photos on photographytoday.net.
