I guess these cameras never got updates like the AE-1 to AE-1P did.?
They all have that horrible ASA adjustment knob.?
Anyway.....i have two of these cameras. One of them is fine, it is "Easy" to adjust the ASA.
The second AT is very difficult. It seems to take, either, just the right amount of Angle and Upward pressure to turn it, or just dumb-luck as some arbitrary turning and pulling of the knob gets the numbers to go where you want them.
Is there a "simple" fix for this.? Can i remove the top-plate and Clean/Lubricate something to make this work better.?
Thank You

The only updated A-camera is indeed the AE-1.

You shouldn't need to remove the cover unless the RW shaft column is bent.
Set the ASA to 100. That's just a reference so you have a value to reassemble the dials.
remove the RW knob
There's either a spanner around the shaft of a C clip. Once that removed the assembly should lift off.
It separates into a couple of pieces and is cleaned with a Q-tip and alcohol. clean the shaft too,

Reassembly is the reverse of the above.

a nut with two holes or slots in it. The wrench has two blades or pointed ends.
I guess I made an assumption here. Sorry, so much for shorthand.
