Canon A70

My grand daughters wedding is coming up this summer. And I want to just be a guest, so my DSLR equipment is not an option.I resurrected my old Canon Power Shot A70 and put in some fresh batteries and tried it out. Now I remember why I got a Nikon DSLR. The camera hangs and doesn’t fire, then misfires later. Is this typical of point and shoot or just the A70?

I think what you are referring to is shutter lag ie the shutter does not fire immediately when the button is pressed. It is a common fault in most point and shoot digital cameras and one of the big reasons why people switch to DSLRs - as you have done yourself. It is not just a Canon thing - I have owned Canon, Fuji and Nikon point and shoots at various times and all of them exhibit the same problem. OzJohn
